Thiernswood Holiday Cottage in the Yorkshire Dales

Holiday Cottages in The Yorkshire Dales
Swaledale Cottages is a family run business offering High Grade holiday accommodation to people who expect and appreciate high levels of comfort and value for money.
Our Cottages are located in and near the village of Healaugh which is in the centre of Swaledale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park approximately ten miles from Richmond. The oldest cottage dates back to the 18th Century and each has its own individual character. They have all been modernised and renovated to a high standard, without destroying the qualities which make them such an attractive holiday experience in the first place.
Healaugh is a small village which won the best kept village competition and houses the largest of our cottages, Swale View. The other cottages are in private grounds up a tree lined drive a third of a mile long in a secluded location

Thiernswood Cottage is an outstanding holiday home for the family. It is a fully modernised, traditional Dales cottage, built in the middle of the last century and set in the grounds of Thiernswood Hall. It has it's own enclosed garden, and nestles under a wooded hillside and is approached by a tree lined drive one third of a mile long.
The superior accommodation includes a spacious lounge, dining room, kitchen, entrance porch, two bedrooms, both with en-suite facilities. There is an open fire in the lounge.
Hot water is provided by an immersion heater. Like all our family/large properties, a washer drier is installed. The Post Office, shops and pubs are two miles away at Reeth.

Yorkshire Dales Information - Places to Visit, Walks etc
The area is essentially walking country and you will find much to enjoy as you tramp the heather moors, ford the streams or pause to admire the handiwork of dry stone wall builders.
Reeth is the main village in the centre of the Dale. It has a large village green surrounded by stone built houses, country shops, pubs and tea shops.
In the nearby village of Low Row you will be able to visit a working farm. Hazel Brow Farm is an ideal day out, especially for younger children.
Richmond is located at the foot of the Dale and boasts an impressive castle with a fine Norman Keep. It is also home of the Royal Georgian Theatre which is over 200 years old. The Green Howards Museum commemorates the origins of the oldest regiment in the British Army.
In Upper Swaledale, the unique Butter Tubs Pass leads through to Wensleydale.
